Media entrepreneur and chieftain of the Dele Momodu has described the 2027 presidential election as a likely “battle of the titans” between incumbent President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Momodu, who is affiliated with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said Atiku remains Tinubu’s strongest challenger ahead of the January 2027 election. He argued that while other candidates may emerge, the political experience, national networks, and name recognition of Tinubu and Atiku make them the dominant figures in the race.

Writing on X, Momodu stated that:

“.”

His comments come as Nigeria’s opposition landscape continues to evolve. Atiku has secured the ADC presidential ticket, while Peter Obi has separately emerged as the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), raising the prospect of another multi-candidate contest similar to the 2023 election.

Momodu also called for a return to issue-based politics and stronger political ideologies, warning that Nigeria’s democracy would benefit from more substantive debates on governance, security, and economic development rather than personality-driven campaigns.

The 2027 election is scheduled for January 16, 2027, and analysts expect it to focus heavily on insecurity, economic reforms, inflation, and the cost of living under the Tinubu administration.
