At least 19 people have been killed and several others injured in a fresh attack on communities in Plateau State, according to reports circulating on Monday. The incident is the latest in a series of deadly assaults that have continued to affect rural areas of the state.
While full official details were still emerging, local sources said the attackers stormed the affected community, opening fire on residents and causing casualties before fleeing. Several injured victims were reportedly taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The attack has renewed concerns about the worsening security situation in Plateau, where communities in local government areas such as Bokkos, Riyom, Barkin Ladi, and Mangu have experienced repeated violence in recent months. Earlier attacks this year also left multiple people dead and displaced many residents.
