Eleven people have been confirmed dead after a small aircraft crashed in northeastern France on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

According to French authorities, the aircraft — a skydiving plane operated by a parachuting club — crashed shortly after take-off from the Nancy-Essey airfield near Tomblaine, in the Meurthe-et-Moselle region.

All 11 occupants on board (pilot, instructors, and trainee skydivers) were killed in the crash.

Reports say the plane lost altitude moments after take-off and crashed in a residential-adjacent area, narrowly avoiding homes and a nearby commercial zone.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and secured the area, while French aviation authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. At this stage, officials have not confirmed what led to the crash, though witnesses described the aircraft dropping suddenly without obvious warning signs.

Authorities have extended condolences to the victims’ families as investigations continue.
