Two Nigerian nationals have been arrested by police in India over alleged involvement in drug trafficking activities.
According to reports, the suspects were apprehended in Maidan Garhi, South Delhi, following a targeted intelligence-led operation by law enforcement authorities.
Police said they acted on specific intelligence received on April 27, which indicated that the two men were planning to supply narcotics in the area. Officers subsequently set up an ambush and intercepted them around 10:30 p.m. while riding a scooter.
Authorities recovered hard drugs including cocaine, MDMA and methaqualone from the suspects at the time of arrest.
The suspects have been charged under India’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, while investigations are ongoing to uncover the source of the drugs and any wider distribution network.
The arrests are part of a broader crackdown by Indian authorities on international drug trafficking networks, particularly in major cities like Delhi where such activities have been on the rise.
