Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze is expected to return to AC Milan after Premier League side Fulham reportedly decided against making his move permanent following the end of his loan spell.

Chukwueze joined Fulham from AC Milan on a season-long loan deal in 2025, with the English club holding an option to buy the Nigerian international permanently for around €24 million.

However, recent reports indicate that Fulham have now opted not to activate the purchase clause, meaning the 27-year-old will return to the San Siro this summer.

The former Villarreal winger contributed three goals and four assists during his time with the London club, enjoying a more regular run of games compared to his difficult spell at AC Milan before the loan move.

Earlier in the season, several reports had suggested Fulham were seriously considering a permanent transfer after Chukwueze impressed in parts of the campaign.

Despite that interest, Fulham’s decision not to proceed with the deal has now left the Nigerian facing an uncertain future at AC Milan ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Chukwueze originally joined AC Milan from Spanish side Villarreal in 2023 but struggled to secure a consistent starting role with the Italian giants. Across two seasons in Serie A, he scored four league goals in 51 appearances before heading to England on loan.

Reports in Italy suggest that AC Milan are preparing for major squad changes following a disappointing campaign that saw the club miss out on UEFA Champions League qualification.

It remains unclear whether Chukwueze will be reintegrated into Milan’s plans next season or placed on the transfer market again during the summer window.
