Celebrity barman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu does not fully trust him because he is an Igbo man.
Cubana Chief Priest made the statement during a recent live session on social media while reacting to criticisms surrounding his relationship with politicians and government officials.
According to him, despite publicly supporting Tinubu during the 2023 general elections, he still feels that ethnic considerations affect the level of trust and political acceptance extended to him.
“I supported him, but he can never trust me completely because I’m Igbo,” he reportedly said during the session.
The nightlife entrepreneur also spoke about what he described as long-standing ethnic divisions and political mistrust in Nigeria, particularly against people of Igbo origin seeking influence in national politics.
His remarks quickly generated widespread reactions on social media, with supporters and critics debating issues surrounding ethnicity, political loyalty, and inclusion in Nigeria’s political space.
Some commentators argued that the statement reflected broader concerns about national unity and representation, while others accused the socialite of attempting to stir controversy for public attention.
Cubana Chief Priest, known for his close association with several Nigerian celebrities and politicians, has remained vocal on political and social issues in recent years.
As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency had not officially responded to the statement.
