The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned six-hour power outage affecting parts of Ogun State on Thursday, May 14, 2026, to allow for scheduled maintenance work on its transmission infrastructure.
According to a statement released by TCN, the outage is necessary for engineers to carry out preventive maintenance on the 40MVA 132/33KV power transformer at the McPherson Transmission Substation.
- Duration: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (six hours)
- Reason: Routine maintenance and technical checks
- Affected areas: McPherson, University, and Ogunmakin communities
- Distribution company affected: Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) ([turn0search2])
During the maintenance period, IBEDC will be unable to supply electricity to customers in the affected areas.
The General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said the exercise is aimed at ensuring the transformer operates efficiently and reducing the risk of unexpected faults on the transmission network.
TCN also apologised to residents and businesses affected by the temporary disruption, urging them to bear with the inconvenience as the maintenance is carried out.
