The Ogun State Police Command has deployed over 2,500 police personnel across Ijebu Ode and adjoining communities ahead of the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival in a bid to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration.
According to the command, the deployment includes conventional officers and tactical units such as the Mobile Police Force, SWAT, anti-kidnapping teams, intelligence units, and traffic operatives positioned across strategic locations.
The security arrangement also covers key areas such as the Ojude Oba pavilion, major highways, hotels, markets, worship centres, and entry and exit points expected to experience heavy human and vehicular movement during the festival.
Police authorities said the operation is aimed at ensuring crowd control, intelligence-led policing, traffic management, and rapid response to any security threats before, during, and after the event.
The Commissioner of Police directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to remain on high alert, intensify patrols, and maintain strict supervision throughout the festival period.
Residents and visitors were also advised to remain vigilant, cooperate with security operatives, and report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation or emergency contacts.
Ojude Oba is a major cultural festival of the Ijebu people held annually in Ijebu Ode, usually taking place a few days after Eid al-Adha and attracting large crowds from within and outside Nigeria.
