Residents of Gaza are observing Eid al-Adha under devastating humanitarian conditions, with many families unable to celebrate due to ongoing conflict, hunger, displacement, and widespread destruction across the territory.

Across several parts of Gaza, traditional Eid celebrations have reportedly been replaced by grief and survival struggles as thousands of Palestinians continue to live in overcrowded shelters and damaged buildings.

Many residents said they could not afford food, new clothes, or sacrificial animals typically associated with Eid festivities because of worsening economic hardship and shortages of basic supplies.

“There is no Eid atmosphere here,” one displaced resident reportedly said while describing the emotional toll of the conflict and continued uncertainty facing families in Gaza.

Humanitarian agencies have repeatedly warned that Gaza is facing a severe humanitarian crisis marked by food insecurity, limited medical supplies, damaged infrastructure, and shortages of clean water and electricity.

According to aid groups, children and vulnerable families remain among the worst affected, with many struggling to access healthcare, nutrition, and safe shelter.

Despite the difficult conditions, some Palestinians still gathered for prayers in damaged mosques and open spaces, attempting to preserve religious traditions amid the destruction.

International organisations have continued calling for increased humanitarian access and protection for civilians as the crisis deepens.

The conflict has left large parts of Gaza heavily damaged, displaced millions of people, and intensified global concern over the humanitarian impact of the war.
