Chairman of the Nigeria National League (NNL), George Aluo, has defended the eligibility status of Remo Stars and Beyond Limits Football Academy amid growing concerns and debates surrounding their participation in the league structure.
Questions had reportedly emerged over whether Beyond Limits, widely regarded as the feeder team of Nigeria Premier Football League side Remo Stars, should continue participating in the NNL due to ownership and structural concerns.
Reacting to the controversy, Aluo stated that both clubs remain eligible under existing football regulations and that there has been no official violation established against them.
According to him, the NNL has carefully reviewed the matter and found no legal basis to disqualify Beyond Limits from league participation at this stage.
“We have looked at the rules and there is nothing stopping Beyond Limits from playing in the NNL,” Aluo reportedly said while addressing concerns raised by some football stakeholders.
Beyond Limits have gained attention in recent seasons for their strong performances and player development model, with several talents progressing through the academy structure linked to Remo Stars.
The debate surrounding multi-club ownership and feeder team participation has continued to generate discussions within Nigerian football circles, particularly regarding fairness, competition integrity, and compliance with federation rules.
Despite the controversy, league officials insist that any future decisions regarding club ownership structures or eligibility rules would be handled by the appropriate football authorities in accordance with established regulations.
