Manchester City have been crowned FA Cup champions after defeating Chelsea 1-0 in a tense final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Antoine Semenyo’s brilliant second-half goal proved decisive in a closely contested encounter between two of England’s biggest clubs.

The breakthrough came in the 72nd minute when Semenyo produced a stunning back-heeled finish from an Erling Haaland cross, sending City fans into celebration and giving Pep Guardiola’s side the lead they would not surrender.

The final had largely been cautious and tactical before the goal, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut opportunities. Chelsea improved in the closing stages and pushed for an equaliser, but City’s defence held firm to secure the victory.

Manchester City also came close to extending their advantage late in the game, with Matheus Nunes striking the post and Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez making important saves to keep his side in contention.

The triumph marks Manchester City’s eighth FA Cup title and adds another major trophy to Pep Guardiola’s remarkable spell at the club. The victory also completes a domestic cup double for City this season following their earlier League Cup success.

For Chelsea, the defeat continues a difficult run in domestic cup finals, despite an improved second-half display that nearly forced extra time. Some Chelsea players and supporters were left frustrated after penalty appeals during the closing stages were waved away.

Semenyo, who joined Manchester City from Bournemouth earlier in the season, was widely praised after the match for producing the defining moment of the final with one of the most memorable goals in recent FA Cup history.
