The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition, describing it as “dead on arrival.”

Wike made the remark while speaking with journalists during an inspection of road projects in Abuja, shortly after Makinde reportedly declared his intention to run for president in the 2027 elections under a PDP–APM arrangement. ([turn0search0])

  • Wike insisted there is no legitimate PDP–APM alliance
  • He described the claim as “political imagination” and “fraud”
  • He said INEC has no record of such a coalition
  • He added that Makinde’s ambition would not succeed within the current PDP structure ([turn0search4])

He further alleged that Makinde was using the purported alliance to advance his personal political ambition, which he claimed was already “dead on arrival.” ([turn0search5])

Makinde had earlier declared his presidential interest at a political gathering in Ibadan, where he criticised the current state of governance and called for reforms ahead of 2027.

The statement has intensified internal tensions within the PDP as factions position themselves ahead of the next general elections.
