A court in India has denied bail to a Nigerian national accused of drug trafficking and selling illegal substances to students, keeping him in custody as legal proceedings continue.

The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Cristian Soporuchukwu, is facing charges related to alleged distribution of MDMA and other hard drugs in India.

According to reports, he was arrested after arriving in India on a business visa but later moved across cities including Goa, Delhi, and Mumbai, where authorities allege he became involved with suspected drug networks.

Investigators told the court that he was linked to drug supply activities targeting students, leading to his arrest and subsequent prosecution under India’s narcotics laws.

The court ruled that bail was not appropriate at this stage, citing the seriousness of the allegations and the ongoing investigation into the alleged drug network.

Under India’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, courts often apply strict bail conditions in cases involving hard drugs, especially where there is suspected trafficking or distribution.

The case remains under judicial review as prosecutors continue presenting evidence while the defendant awaits further hearings.
