President Bola Tinubu has acknowledged the economic hardship currently facing Nigerians, saying he also feels the weight of the nation’s challenges amid ongoing reforms by his administration.
Speaking during an address at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary event in Abuja, Tinubu admitted that many Nigerians have endured difficult economic conditions over the past months.
“If you have lost sleep, if you have lost weight, I have lost some too,” the president said while addressing party members and supporters.
Tinubu stated that the reforms introduced by his administration were necessary to stabilise the economy and secure long-term growth, despite the immediate hardship experienced by citizens.
The president defended policies such as fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange reforms, arguing that previous economic practices were unsustainable and harmful to the country’s future.
He assured Nigerians that his government remains committed to implementing programmes aimed at easing the burden on citizens, including interventions targeting food security, infrastructure, job creation, and social welfare.
Tinubu also urged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive, expressing confidence that the country would eventually benefit from the economic reforms currently being implemented.
The president’s remarks come amid growing public concern over inflation, rising food prices, transport costs, and the broader cost-of-living crisis affecting millions across the country.
