Authorities and community leaders have begun confirming the identities of some victims abducted during the recent attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, as security agencies intensify rescue operations.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, earlier confirmed that seven teachers were abducted while one person was killed during the attack carried out by armed men in the affected communities.

Local sources said the victims include teachers and school workers from institutions within the area targeted during the assault. Families of the abducted individuals have reportedly been contacted as authorities continue efforts to secure their release safely.

Security operatives, including police tactical teams and other agencies, have launched coordinated search-and-rescue operations across surrounding forests and neighbouring communities. Some suspects linked to the incident have reportedly been arrested.

The attack has triggered fear among residents and renewed concerns over insecurity affecting schools and rural communities in parts of the country.

Governor Makinde assured residents that the state government is working closely with security agencies to ensure the abducted victims are rescued and the perpetrators brought to justice.
