Some Nigerian pilgrims performing the 2026 Hajj have raised concerns over poor accommodation and inadequate feeding arrangements in Mina and Arafat, saying the conditions affected their comfort during the spiritual exercise.

Reports indicate that several pilgrims complained about overcrowded tents, limited food supplies, and poor welfare coordination during key stages of the Hajj rites in Saudi Arabia.

Some of the pilgrims said the experience was far below expectations despite the high cost paid for the pilgrimage, adding that basic welfare needs were not properly met in some camps.

Complaints particularly focused on conditions in Mina and Arafat, where pilgrims reported shortages in meals and difficulties accessing adequate resting spaces during the intense periods of worship.

A number of accounts also described overcrowding in tents and uneven distribution of services among different categories of pilgrims, with some saying they had to endure uncomfortable conditions during the rites.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has in recent years acknowledged logistical challenges during Hajj operations and has promised continuous improvements in service delivery and welfare management.

Despite the complaints, officials involved in Hajj operations have maintained that efforts are being made to ensure smoother coordination and better welfare support for Nigerian pilgrims in future exercises.

The concerns add to ongoing discussions about the need for improved logistics, better accommodation planning, and enhanced feeding arrangements for pilgrims during one of the world’s largest annual religious gatherings.
