Gunmen have attacked a police facility in Kwara State, killing three police officers during a deadly assault on a security formation in the Kaiama area.
According to security reports, the attackers stormed the base in the early hours and engaged officers in a fierce gun battle before overpowering them. The incident is part of a series of recent violent attacks in parts of Kwara linked to armed groups and bandit activity.
The Kwara State Governor confirmed the deaths, describing the fallen officers as gallant personnel who died in active service while resisting the attackers.
Authorities say the attackers also attempted to raid nearby communities, but security reinforcements were deployed to prevent further escalation. Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are being intensified to track down those responsible.
The attack adds to growing security concerns in the state, which has witnessed repeated assaults on military and police formations in recent months.
