President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to embrace unity and discipline as the party begins its nationwide primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement marking the commencement of the exercise, Tinubu urged aspirants and party leaders to avoid actions that could create internal divisions, warning that rancour could weaken the party

- Urged winners to avoid arrogance and losers to accept results with sportsmanship
- Described the primaries as a test of APC’s unity and strength

Tinubu also appealed to party members to support women and young aspirants, stressing the importance of inclusivity in the party’s internal democracy.
He further instructed security agencies to maintain professionalism and avoid interference beyond ensuring peace during the primaries.
The APC primaries, which begin with House of Representatives contests, will run through to the presidential primary scheduled for May 25, 2026, ahead of the 2027 elections.
