A body believed to be that of a 12-year-old boy who went missing while swimming in a river has been recovered after a large-scale search operation.

The boy was reported missing after getting into difficulty in the water during warm weather, prompting emergency services to launch a search along the river.

Police said a body was later discovered during the operation and is believed to be the missing child, although formal identification has not yet been completed.

Authorities have informed the boy’s family and say they are receiving support from specially trained officers as investigations continue.

Officials also confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious, with early indications pointing to a tragic drowning incident.

The incident is part of a wider series of recent river and lake drowning cases involving young people, prompting renewed warnings from emergency services about the dangers of swimming in open water, especially during hot weather.

Authorities continue to urge the public to exercise caution near rivers, lakes, and beaches, noting that strong currents and cold water shock can quickly overwhelm even strong swimmers.
