The Nigerian Army has sanctioned a soldier serving under Operation Hadin Kai for spreading what it described as misleading information about poor feeding of troops in the North-East.

According to a statement by the Joint Task Force’s Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Sanni Uba, the action followed an internal investigation into a viral social media post made by the soldier.

The Army said findings revealed that the image shared did not reflect the full food ration issued, and therefore misrepresented the actual welfare conditions of personnel.

Officials insisted that troops in the North-East are fed according to approved standards, with structured systems like food committees in place to oversee meal planning and distribution.

Following the probe, the soldier was disciplined in line with the Armed Forces Act, with authorities stressing that such actions are necessary to maintain discipline and protect the integrity of the military.

The Army also reassured the public that troop welfare remains a priority, despite operational challenges in conflict zones.
