The Central Bank of Nigeria has officially debunked the viral image of a ₦5,000 note allegedly featuring Bola Ahmed Tinubu, confirming that it is completely fake.
According to the apex bank, the image circulating across social media did not originate from them, and Nigerians have been urged to disregard it. The CBN clearly stated: “This content is fake. Let the public be guided.”
Investigations into the image further showed that it was AI-generated, with analysis indicating over 90% artificial content, which explains how realistic it looked despite being false.
There is currently no official plan or announcement for a ₦5,000 note bearing Tinubu’s image or any new ₦5,000 note at all.
