Russia has claimed that a Ukrainian drone strike on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant complex in occupied Ukraine resulted in the death of a plant transport worker.

According to statements from Russian-installed authorities at the facility, the drone struck the plant’s transport department, killing a driver and raising fresh concerns over safety at Europe’s largest nuclear power station.

Officials said the attack occurred on Monday, with reports indicating that drones were launched toward the heavily controlled nuclear site, which has remained under Russian occupation since 2022.

The Zaporizhzhia plant, which is currently not producing electricity, has repeatedly been at the centre of accusations between Moscow and Kyiv, with both sides frequently blaming each other for strikes near the facility and warning of potential nuclear risks.
