Security forces have dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing network operating in parts of Jos, Plateau State, and Kaduna State, recovering weapons and equipment used for producing sophisticated firearms.

The operation was carried out by troops under ongoing counter-crime and anti-arms proliferation missions in the North-Central and North-West regions, targeting hidden workshops believed to be supplying weapons to criminal groups.

During the raid in Plateau State, troops stormed a clandestine arms fabrication site where suspects were caught actively producing firearms. Two suspects were arrested at the scene.

Recovered items included AK-47 rifles, a G3 rifle, and several manufacturing tools such as welding machines, drilling equipment, and generators used for weapon production.

In a related operation in Kaduna State, troops responding to intelligence on criminal activity also intercepted armed suspects and recovered additional weapons, including rifles and operational equipment linked to illegal arms circulation.

Security authorities say the raids are part of intensified efforts to curb the spread of illegal firearms, which has continued to fuel banditry, kidnapping, and violent crime across northern Nigeria.
