Nigeria’s apex court, the Supreme Court of Nigeria, has fixed Thursday, April 30, 2026, to deliver judgment on the lingering leadership crises in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party.
The cases, listed under political appeals, were heard on April 22 by a five-member panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba, after which judgment was reserved.
For the ADC case, the appeal—marked SC/CV/180/2026—is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., while the exact time for the PDP judgment has not been publicly specified.
The disputes centre on who controls the leadership structures of both parties:
- In the ADC, the battle involves a faction led by former Senate President David Mark and a rival group led by Nafiu Bala Gombe.
- In the PDP, multiple factions are contesting legitimacy following controversial conventions and internal disagreements.
The rulings are considered high-stakes, as they could determine whether the affected factions and possibly the parties themselves are eligible to field candidates in the 2027 general elections.
