Pope Leo XIV has dismissed reports of a personal feud with Donald Trump, stressing that his focus remains on promoting peace, not political conflict.
Speaking during his ongoing trip to Africa, the Pope clarified that his recent remarks criticizing global violence were not directed at Trump personally, but were part of a broader message against war and injustice.
He stated clearly that engaging in a public dispute with the US president is “not in my interest at all,” emphasizing that his role is spiritual rather than political.
The clarification follows days of tension after Trump publicly criticised the Pope over his stance on global conflicts, including the ongoing Iran war. Despite this, the Pope maintained that his message was prepared earlier and centered on global peace, not any individual leader.
While the exchange has sparked debate especially among American Catholics the Vatican has continued to frame the Pope’s position as a general call for peace and moral responsibility worldwide.
