Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have intercepted suspected cocaine and cannabis (popularly known as “loud”), while also recovering a firearm linked to a murder case in separate operations across the state.
According to police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe, officers of the Safer Highway Patrol intercepted a vehicle along the Onicha-Ugbo/Ewohimi Road, where they discovered 490 grams of cocaine and 4 grams of cannabis cleverly hidden inside energy-saving bulbs.
The drugs were reportedly being transported in a Sienna bus heading north, leading to the arrest of the driver, while investigations are ongoing to track other suspects connected to the shipment.
In a separate operation the same day, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team recovered a pump-action gun with live cartridges in the Ekigbo area of Ughelli.
Police confirmed that the firearm is linked to the January 2026 murder of a victim identified as Alex Adanike, with three suspects already arrested, while another suspect remains at large.
Authorities say the operations are part of ongoing intelligence-led efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in drug trafficking, cultism, and violent crimes across Delta State.
