The Delta State Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers following a coordinated security operation and recovered firearms and ammunition from the suspects’ hideouts.
According to police reports, the operation was carried out by tactical teams acting on intelligence, which led officers to locations linked to a kidnapping syndicate operating within parts of the state. The suspects were apprehended during a raid, while items recovered included arms, ammunition, and other incriminating materials believed to have been used for criminal activities.
Authorities say the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks across Delta State, which have been responsible for several attacks and abductions in recent months. The police added that investigations are continuing to identify other members of the gang and recover additional weapons.
The Delta Police Command also noted that similar operations in recent times have led to the arrest of multiple suspects and the recovery of illegal arms, as security agencies intensify their crackdown on violent crime in the region.
The arrested suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
