President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has visited Jos, Plateau State, following the recent deadly attacks that left dozens of people dead, in a move aimed at commiserating with victims and assessing the security situation.

The President postponed an earlier scheduled trip to Ogun State to prioritise the visit, after meeting with Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang at the Presidential Villa, where he was briefed on the crisis.

The visit comes in response to the attack in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North, where at least 27–28 people were killed, sparking tension across the state.

In a parallel move to contain the situation, the Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu ordered the deployment of Police Mobile Force units, tactical teams, and intelligence operatives to Plateau State.

The police say the deployment is aimed at restoring order, strengthening security presence, and preventing further breakdown of law and order. Additional directives include visible policing and engagement with vulnerable communities as tensions remain high.

Authorities have also intensified broader security measures, with senior police officials already sent to coordinate operations on ground and ensure that those responsible for the attacks are tracked and arrested.

The situation in Jos remains fragile, with reports of unrest and fear among residents even after curfew adjustments, highlighting the urgency of the government’s intervention.
