The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has assured that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will participate in the 2027 general elections despite its ongoing internal crises.

Wike made the statement during the party’s 2026 National Convention in Abuja, where concerns had been raised about whether internal divisions could threaten the party’s eligibility or preparedness for the next election cycle.

According to him, regardless of the challenges, the PDP remains a viable political platform and will not miss the ballot in 2027, signaling confidence in the party’s structure and ongoing reconciliation efforts.

His comments come at a time when the party has been dealing with leadership disputes, defections, and factional tensions, which have cast doubts on its unity and electoral strength ahead of the next general elections.

The reassurance aligns with similar sentiments from other party leaders who have stressed that ensuring PDP’s presence on the ballot is a top priority, especially after fears that internal conflicts could undermine its participation.

Nigeria’s next general elections are scheduled for January 2027, where major parties are already beginning early alignments and strategies.
