Victor Osimhen has come out in strong support of Galatasaray goalkeeper Günay Güvenç after the club’s disappointing exit from the Turkish Cup, urging fans and critics to show understanding instead of blame.

Galatasaray were eliminated from the competition following a surprise defeat to Gençlerbirliği, a result that sparked frustration among supporters, especially after a costly mistake involving the goalkeeper contributed to the loss.

After the match, Osimhen moved quickly to defend his teammate, insisting that mistakes are part of football and should not define a player’s quality or contribution to the team.

“We stand by Günay Güvenç. A single moment doesn’t define a player; mistakes are part of football,” Osimhen said, stressing the need for unity within the squad during difficult moments.

The Nigerian striker also called for solidarity among teammates and fans, urging Galatasaray supporters to continue backing the squad despite the setback, as attention now shifts to other competitions.

Reports indicate that the goalkeeper was visibly emotional after the match, with Osimhen’s gesture seen as an attempt to lift morale inside the dressing room following the cup disappointment.
