An Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Ijebu Imushin has remanded a 45-year-old woman, Taiwo Adeoye, for allegedly pouring hot water on her teenage niece, leaving her with serious injuries.

According to police reports, the victim identified as 13-year-old Modinat Adeoye suffered severe burns after the suspect allegedly bathed her with hot water at their residence in Imushin.

The incident, which occurred on April 13, 2026, was reported to the police, prompting immediate intervention by detectives who rescued the girl and ensured she received urgent medical treatment.

Authorities said the assault was allegedly triggered by accusations that the teenager was “following men around.”

Following her arrest and arraignment, the court granted the suspect ₦3 million bail but ordered her remanded at the Ijebu Ode Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.

The Ogun State Police Command condemned the act, reiterating its stance against child abuse and violence, and assured the public that justice would be pursued.
