The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a strong warning to students and the general public over the circulation of fake student loan registration portals and fraudulent links claiming to offer access to its loan scheme.

The agency said it has observed the spread of unauthorised websites and messages directing applicants to third-party links, stressing that such platforms are designed to steal personal information and mislead unsuspecting students.

NELFUND clarified that the only official student loan application portal is its verified website, urging students not to use or trust any other links circulating online.

It advised applicants to rely strictly on official communication channels, including its website and verified social media handles, for accurate updates on the loan process.

The fund also cautioned students against submitting personal or financial information on fake platforms, warning that doing so could expose them to fraud and identity theft.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and security, NELFUND said it will continue to monitor and report fraudulent activities linked to its name, while working to protect students from exploitation.

The agency further encouraged the public to report suspicious links or messages to its official support channels for immediate action.

This latest alert adds to a series of warnings issued by NELFUND in recent months as scammers increasingly attempt to exploit interest in the federal student loan scheme.
