Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a pastor and his wife in Lagos after uncovering illicit drugs concealed inside their vehicle.
The suspects, identified as Pastor Afolabi Hodonu (45) and his wife, Mrs. Success Hodonu (35), were apprehended on April 2, 2026, at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Seme–Badagry axis.
According to the agency, a search of their Honda Pilot SUV led to the discovery of 11 kilograms of skunk, which had been carefully hidden in modified compartments within the vehicle.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi disclosed that the arrest was linked to earlier intelligence operations, including the interception of another suspect transporting drugs along the same route.
The agency noted that the operation forms part of a broader nationwide crackdown targeting drug trafficking networks, regardless of status or background. Authorities reiterated that no individual or group religious or otherwise will be shielded from prosecution.
In related operations, NDLEA also reported multiple seizures across the country, including cocaine concealed in export items and large quantities of tramadol and cannabis, as part of intensified anti-drug efforts.
