The Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS) has called for a full investigation into the controversy surrounding social media personality Blessing CEO over alleged fake cancer claims and donation fraud.
In a statement, the NCS expressed concern that the influencer reportedly solicited financial donations from Nigerians, claiming to be battling a serious illness, but emerging allegations have raised doubts about the authenticity of those claims.
The organisation described the situation as disturbing and unethical, warning that if proven true, such actions could damage public trust in genuine cancer advocacy and fundraising efforts.
According to the NCS, exploiting cancer narratives for personal gain could discourage people from supporting real patients who depend on public goodwill for treatment and survival. It stressed that “cancer is not a tool for manipulation,” highlighting the seriousness of the issue.
The group also revealed plans to involve relevant security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation, adding that anyone found culpable should face appropriate sanctions.
The controversy has continued to grow following separate allegations that the medical report shared by Blessing CEO may have been altered or belonged to another patient, further intensifying calls for accountability.
