Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has apologised following his red card in Nigeria’s friendly match against Jordan, admitting his behaviour fell below expectations.
Iwobi was sent off late in the game after reacting angrily to a challenge from Jordan’s Amer Jamous during the 2–2 draw played on March 31 in Turkey.
Speaking after the incident, the Fulham star took responsibility for his actions, saying:
“My actions were not good enough, and I got sent off.”
He also issued an apology to his teammates, staff, and Nigerian fans, acknowledging that his reaction was a mistake and a lapse in judgment.
Iwobi added that he intends to learn from the incident and move forward, while noting that the team at least secured a draw from the match.
The red card followed a heated moment that escalated into a brief on-field confrontation between both teams, drawing widespread attention after the game.
