Police in Osun State have arrested a man captured in a viral video assaulting female police officers during a traffic control incident in Ido-Osun. The suspect, identified as Adekola Jimoh Amobi, was tracked and apprehended in Edo State after fleeing the scene.

According to the Osun State Police Command, the suspect was seen in the video attacking the officers with a stick and shovel while they were on lawful duty, an incident that sparked outrage after the footage circulated online.

Police Commissioner Ibrahim Gotan said the arrest followed an intelligence-led operation launched immediately after the attack, stressing that violence against law enforcement officers would not be tolerated. He added that the suspect is in custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.

Reports said the suspect allegedly fled first to Ilobu before escaping to Edo, where he was eventually located and arrested by operatives. During questioning, he reportedly claimed the confrontation escalated after a disagreement during traffic enforcement.

The arrest has drawn widespread reaction, with many describing it as a test case for accountability in attacks on security personnel, while authorities insist the matter will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
