The Nigeria Police Force in Lagos has paraded 118 suspects arrested for crimes including cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, murder and vandalism in a series of coordinated operations across the state.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, the suspects were apprehended during targeted raids in areas such as Lekki, Ikorodu, Iwaya and Lagos Island, where officers cracked down on street gangs, cult groups and robbery syndicates.
Police said items recovered from the suspects include firearms (including locally made Beretta pistols and Dane guns), telecom power batteries, cutlasses, a knife, charms and 21 bags of suspected Indian hemp.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, revealed that some of the suspects were linked to kidnapping and murder cases, including the abduction and killing of a 17-year-old victim in April 2026.
In one operation along the Lekki corridor, 58 suspects were arrested for crimes such as phone snatching, traffic robbery and harassment of residents, while other suspects were picked up in connection with cult-related violence and illegal possession of firearms.
Police said investigations are ongoing and all suspects will be charged to court, stressing that the operations demonstrate a renewed focus on intelligence-led policing to tackle rising urban crime.
