The Lagos State Government has intensified efforts to reduce workplace hazards through renewed safety training initiatives aimed at improving compliance, preventing accidents, and strengthening occupational safety standards across sectors.

The initiative was driven through a one-day safety sensitisation programme organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture in collaboration with the Lagos State Safety Commission. The training focused on identifying workplace risks, improving emergency preparedness, and promoting safer operational practices among workers and employers.

Officials said the programme forms part of broader efforts to tackle industrial hazards and eliminate avoidable workplace incidents through proactive safety education rather than reactive enforcement alone. Participants were trained on hazard detection, risk mitigation, and compliance with safety regulations designed to protect workers and the public.

According to the government, the move is also tied to an advanced safety strategy and a wider safety roadmap intended to improve workplace standards across Lagos, particularly in sectors considered vulnerable to accidents and operational risks.
