The Kebbi State Government has denied allegations linking it to the ongoing leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting it has no hand in the legal tussle involving rival factional chairmen in the state.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the government dismissed reports suggesting it was behind the court case involving the two factions, describing the claims as baseless and misleading. Officials maintained that the crisis is purely an internal matter within the opposition party and not one orchestrated by the state government.
According to the government, the ADC’s leadership crisis predates the current controversy and has long been marked by rivalry and competing claims to party control. It argued that the legal action currently before the court stems from that internal dispute and should not be politicised by dragging the government into it.
The denial follows accusations from one factional chairman who reportedly alleged that the state government was using the court process against him. But Kebbi officials rejected the allegation outright, saying the government is neither affiliated with the ADC nor involved in its internal conflicts.
The government also urged journalists and political actors to avoid spreading unverified claims capable of undermining public confidence or interfering with an ongoing judicial process. It stressed that the dispute should be resolved through the party’s internal mechanisms and the courts, rather than through accusations directed at external actors.
