Iranian forces are actively searching for the crew of a U.S. fighter jet shot down over Iranian territory, in a major escalation of the ongoing conflict between both countries.
Reports indicate that the aircraft believed to be an F-15E fighter jet with two crew members onboard was brought down by Iranian air defences. Both crew members ejected before the crash.
Following the crash, a high-risk rescue operation was launched by U.S. forces. One of the crew members has since been successfully rescued and is now in U.S. custody, though details about their condition remain unclear.
However, the second crew member is still missing and that’s where the situation gets more intense. Iranian forces, including the Revolutionary Guard, are reportedly combing the crash area in southwestern Iran in an effort to locate the remaining pilot before U.S. troops do.
In a controversial move, Iranian media and local authorities have even encouraged civilians to help capture the pilot, reportedly offering rewards for information or capture.
Meanwhile, U.S. helicopters and aircraft have been seen flying low over the المنطقة, conducting search-and-rescue missions under dangerous conditions, with reports of locals firing at them.
This incident marks the first time in the current conflict that a U.S. manned fighter jet has been shot down inside Iran, highlighting the growing risks and intensity of the الØرب.
