A wave of outrage has erupted online following reports that a student of Covenant University allegedly died after being denied access to oxygen at the institution’s clinic.

According to multiple eyewitness accounts circulating on social media, the final-year student was rushed to the school’s medical centre during an emergency, but critical equipment such as oxygen was reportedly unavailable.

Witnesses claimed the student was “gasping for air” while his condition worsened, sparking emotional reactions and anger across social platforms.

A close associate of the deceased alleged that instead of immediate medical intervention, there were delays in treatment, with claims that essential life-saving tools like oxygen cylinders and nebulisers were not accessible at the time.

The incident has triggered widespread criticism, with many Nigerians questioning how a private university with high tuition fees could allegedly lack basic emergency medical facilities.

The situation has also reignited conversations about healthcare standards in Nigerian universities, with students and the public demanding accountability, improved emergency response systems, and a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

As of now, no official statement has been released by the university, further intensifying public frustration and calls for transparency.
