Manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that Manchester City must beat Arsenal or risk losing their chance at the Premier League title.
Speaking ahead of the crucial clash, Guardiola described the game as a “final”, making it clear that anything short of victory could effectively end City’s title ambitions.
City are currently trailing Arsenal by six points, although they have a game in hand. A win would significantly close the gap and keep their title defence alive, but a loss would leave them with too much ground to recover.
Guardiola stressed the importance of mentality and performance, noting that his team must be at their best in what is shaping up to be a season-defining encounter. He also pointed to City’s recent strong form as a reason for confidence heading into the match.
The fixture is widely seen as a turning point in the title race, with analysts and fans agreeing that the result could determine which team goes on to lift the trophy.
