A devastating fuel tanker explosion in Cross River State has left at least 12 people dead and 38 others severely burnt, following a massive inferno that engulfed victims in the affected area.


The tragic incident reportedly occurred after a fuel-laden tanker lost control and caught fire, triggering an explosion that spread rapidly and trapped residents and passers-by who were nearby at the time. Eyewitness accounts say the blaze escalated within minutes, making rescue efforts extremely difficult.


Officials confirmed that multiple victims were caught in the fire, with many sustaining life-threatening burns. Emergency responders later evacuated the injured to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment while recovery operations continued at the scene.


Sources indicate that about 38 people were badly affected by the inferno, while 12 fatalities were confirmed in the aftermath of the disaster.
