A wild elephant has invaded Innayin community in Oyo State, leaving one person dead and another missing after attacking residents in the area.


The incident occurred on Thursday around 3:30 pm when the animal suddenly entered the community, causing panic among residents who immediately raised an alarm.


According to the Oyo State Police Command, operatives alongside local vigilantes and hunters quickly moved to the scene after receiving a distress call.


The police confirmed that the lifeless body of a 45-year-old man, identified as Ibrahim Tijani, was discovered in a nearby bush with injuries consistent with an animal attack. His body has since been evacuated to a general hospital for examination and preservation.


Another resident, a 50-year-old man identified as Alhaji Muhammadu Bingin, was reported missing after encountering the same elephant, with search efforts currently ongoing to locate him. 


Authorities have deployed security personnel to the area to prevent further attacks and restore calm, while residents have been urged to avoid the affected location and report any sighting of the animal.
