The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its online portal for the recruitment of ad-hoc staff for the Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026.

INEC said applications are open for key election roles including Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers/Assistant Presiding Officers (POs/APOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers, and Registration Area Technical Support Staff (RATECHs).

According to the commission, the application portal opened on April 25 and will close on May 18, 2026, while some INEC portal notices reference May 16 as the closing date, making applicants advised to apply early.

INEC said eligible applicants include civil servants, serving NYSC members, qualified tertiary students, former corps members, and certain categories of INEC personnel, depending on the role applied for. Applicants must also not be members of political parties or have shown support for any candidate or political party.

The commission directed interested applicants to submit applications through its official recruitment portal, stressing that the exercise is part of preparations to ensure a credible and smooth conduct of the off-cycle governorship poll in Ekiti.

The recruitment announcement comes as political activities continue to build ahead of the election, where incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji is expected to seek re-election.
