The Nigeria Police Force in Delta State has presented ₦16.7 million in cheques to families of officers who died in active service, as part of activities marking National Police Week.
The cheques were handed over by the Delta State Command to beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Scheme, aimed at supporting families left behind by deceased officers.
Officials described the gesture as a recognition of the sacrifice and dedication of officers who lost their lives while serving the country, noting that their contributions will not be forgotten.
The command also reiterated the commitment of the police leadership to improving welfare for officers and their families, stressing that such financial support is meant to cushion the impact of their loss.
The event formed part of broader activities commemorating National Police Week, which highlights the role of the police in national security and honours officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
