The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has denied allegations of an internal rift and claims of missing or diverted funds, describing the reports as false, misleading, and deliberately intended to damage its reputation.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by its leadership, CAN said there is no division within its structure, either along regional or leadership lines, and insisted that the organisation remains united and stable.
The association also rejected claims that it received or mismanaged any relief funds meant for persecuted Christians in parts of the country, stressing that such allegations were completely unfounded.
CAN further stated that it had not handled any funds as suggested in the reports, adding that no financial resources were diverted under any circumstance. It described the narrative as a fabrication aimed at misleading the public and creating unnecessary tension within the Christian community.
Reaffirming its unity, CAN maintained that it remains “one indivisible body” and dismissed suggestions of secession or factionalisation within its leadership structure.
The organisation warned that it would not hesitate to take legal action against individuals or groups spreading false information capable of undermining its integrity.
