The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has cautioned a cleric, Rev. Isaac Omolehin of Word Assembly Ministry, Ilorin, over recent remarks in which he referenced prominent Nigerian pastors, including Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo, and Pastor William Kumuyi.CAN said the cleric’s comments were capable of causing misunderstanding within the Christian community and warned against statements that could undermine unity among church leaders in the country.
In a statement issued by CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the association stressed that it would not tolerate any public remarks that misrepresent respected Christian leaders or create unnecessary tension within the body of Christ.
CAN also reaffirmed its position on unity, dismissing any suggestion of internal division or leadership crisis within the organisation.
The association further cautioned that individuals should avoid using public platforms to make unverified claims or statements that could mislead the public or damage the image of the Church.
It warned that failure to desist from such comments could lead to disciplinary or legal action, adding that it remains committed to protecting the integrity of the Christian body in Nigeria.
The development comes amid ongoing debates within religious circles over leadership structure, influence, and the role of major church figures in the country’s Christian community.
