A faction of Boko Haram has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Nigerian government, demanding action over the fate of 416 abducted victims, mostly women and children, held in Borno State.

In a video released by the group, the insurgents warned that failure to meet their demands within the deadline would result in the victims being moved to unknown locations, with threats that they may never be seen again.

The terrorists also dared the government to attempt a military rescue operation, insisting they are prepared for confrontation if force is used instead of negotiations.

According to reports, the group had earlier demanded a ransom of about ₦5 billion for the release of the abductees, who were taken during an attack in Borno State.

The ultimatum has triggered renewed concern among residents and stakeholders, with mediators and local groups calling for urgent intervention from government authorities and security agencies to prevent further escalation.
