Armed bandits who attacked communities in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State have reportedly demanded a ₦1 billion ransom for the release of residents abducted during a violent raid.

The demand comes after the attackers invaded Ariko community on Easter Sunday, killing some residents and abducting several others, including women, children, and elderly persons.

According to community leaders under the Concerned Ariko Youths, the attackers stormed the area during a religious gathering, leaving behind devastation and panic. Families say the victims include entire households some of whom were killed while others were taken away into the bush.

Reports from the community indicate that those kidnapped are not just individuals but grouped families. Among them are:

  • Elderly residents, including two blind men
  • Women whose husbands were killed during the attack
  • Several children
  • Entire families taken together during the raid

The situation has left the community in distress, with many residents still missing and families unsure of their loved ones’ fate.
